Dorothy

Dorothy

A few months ago I bought a designing software (Intwined Pattern Studio), but was busy working on PPaola and couldn't play with it properly.
This pattern started it's life as a learning experience with the software.  I'd charted pieces of it whenever I had some spare time, and once I got one element charted and broken down, I knew how to construct the shawl.
I knit the first prototype in the end of 2010, but wasn't happy with a few elements.  I was still working with the test knitters and didn't really have the time to give Dorothy the proper attention.
After I released PPaola I came back to it, solved a few problems, changed the border and created the edging for it.

Dorothy is an ethereal shawl, knit from the neck down with a crocheted chain bind off.  This pattern has an interesting construction, where there are always an odd number of elements going on.
This shawl can be knit in a variety of different yarn weights from gossamer to sport weight. Due to the yarn overs, the end result will be very open.
If you like double yarn overs this pattern is for you (they are all over the shawl). Dorothy is a great pattern to challenge yourself with. It isn’t, by any means a mindless knit, this is a pattern for when you’re focused or want something to keep you on the edge of your seat.  Recommended for intermediate skill level.
